Long Bio
Journey in Bangladesh
Abdullah earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from North South University (NSU) in Bangladesh. He subsequently joined the NSU Genome Research Institute (NGRI) and the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology, NSU, where he contributed to research activities in molecular epidemiology and computational biology approaches.
Journey in Hawaii
In 2025, Abdullah relocated to Hawaii, USA, to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. There, he worked as a graduate research assistant on a USDA Sun Grant project focused on converting organic waste into sustainable aviation fuel. His work involved the use of metabolic engineering to enhance isoprenol production for renewable energy applications.
Journey in South Carolina
Following this, Abdullah transferred to the University of South Carolina, Columbia, where he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Arnold School of Public Health. As a doctoral researcher in a multidisciplinary laboratory, his primary research interests lie in aquatic toxicology and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). He applies advanced cell culture techniques to investigate ecological and environmental impacts in aquatic systems. In parallel, he is working on the WBE approach to detecting and monitoring food-borne pathogens in community wastewater streams.
